This means that the Supreme Court’s six-justice Republican majority, which heralded the new era of abortion rights in the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling, is very likely to continue redefining the US Constitution for the next generation – at least.
And with President Trump having a Republican-majority Senate to work with for at least his first two years of regaining office, his pursuit to Make America Great Again is likely to become a MAGA reality for America’s conservatives.
The reality of America facing the next chapter of President Trump has proven that US politics and US election cycles are about far more than political ideological differences.
American governance is saturated with social ideologies that many believe are rooted in a history no country should forget or want to relive.
Regardless of where you stand in the vast liberal spectrum of the American Democratic party, one thing is certain: you have absolutely no sound reason to believe you or your family will fare any better the second time around.

- Condoms and Plan B pills do not require a prescription
- Death penalty is constitutionally banned

- Education is also state-of-the-art
- Public university is free
What makes Malta the best Plan B solution in the world is that the country offers both a Golden Visa and a citizenship / EU passport program.

The Canadian government has announced plans targeting a 25% reduction in permanent residency approvals by 2027.
In 2024, Canada had a PR target of 485,000. Instead of the typical annual increase, that number is now projected to drop to 365,000 by 2027.
While American families will most likely continue to be the most likely applicants to secure approval for Canadian PR, the best migration pathway to take into Canada is the Golden Visa.
These Canadian policies will appeal to American liberals:
- Abortion is legal
- Conversion therapy is banned
- Gun ownership is regulated, and handguns are banned
- Same-sex marriage is legal
- Same-sex couples have full adoption rights
- Changing genders and gender-affirming care is legally protected
- Sexual and gender identity are legally protected from any discrimination
- Private and public health care is on par with the US
- Moving toward universal access to free contraceptives
- Death penalty is banned

Canada’s Golden Visa is officially called the Canadian Start-up Visa [SUV] and only requires an investment of CAD 220,000, can lead to citizenship in five years, and has a typical approval time of 2 years.
Greece Golden Visa & EU residency
While Spain and Portugal are the most progressive countries in the EU, Greece is not the conservative bulwark it once was.
Yes, Greece is a political balancing act.
Greek society is relatively young, with millennials and Gen Z making up approximately 40% of the population, and Greek youth are typically more progressive than their parents or grandparents were.
Nevertheless, the Greek Orthodox Church still maintains significant influence over the country’s older population.
Athens and its suburbs, where the older population tends to be more concentrated, have conservative neighborhoods and socially hold onto conservative ideals.
Meanwhile, Thessaloniki is essentially a university town, and its younger demographic makes it more progressive.
Does that mean most American LGBTQ+ families can transplant their American lifestyle into a Greek neighborhood and let loose?
Not necessarily, but we must remember that it is not fair or accurate to lump the entire LGBTQ+ population into a singular persona.
Some LGBTQ individuals maintain a high degree of privacy over their personal business and personal life by choice, and those Americans will find Greece to be a viable Plan B solution.
Politically, Greece is pretty much on par with Spain, Portugal, and Malta. Socially is the big difference.
Though violence against the LGBTQ community is not an everyday event, public displays of same-sex affection are not considered socially acceptable.
And in regards to the LGBTQ+ community, the violence that has occurred has most recently been concentrated against the trans community.
While Greece is definitely not a top 3 contender for American LGBTQ+ families, the Greek Golden Visa offers a lot of potential for Democrat Americans.
Progressive aspects of Greek society that American liberals will accept include:
- Abortion is legal
- Contraceptive medicine is considered Essential Medicine and is legally accessible without a prescription or restriction
- Gun ownership is legal only in limited circumstances
- Same-sex marriage is legal
- Same-sex couples have full adoption rights
- Gender and sexual identity are legally protected from discrimination, including employment & housing
- Health care is top-notch – Medical tourism is a significant part of the country’s tourism industry
- Medical marijuana is legal
The Greece Golden Visa offers real value as a Plan B strategy for American liberals:

What makes Cyprus stand out is the sheer benefits Cypriot residency provides.
Socially, for liberal-minded American families, Cyprus offers:
- Abortion is legal
- Conversion therapy is banned
- Gun laws are very restrictive – only three types of gun licenses are available: shotgun [for hunting], sport shooting [adult members of shooting clubs only], collector [antique & deactivated guns]
- Gun possession must be registered with the local police
- Handguns are banned [other than sports shooting]
- Civil unions are legal and accepted
- Gender-affirming care and changing genders are legally protected
- Sexual and gender identity is protected from employment & housing discrimination
- Medical marijuana is legal
- Permanent residency
- Considered the best Non-Dom Tax program left in the EU
- Pathway to EU citizenship
- EES exemption status
- Real estate-based program
Consider Cypriot society akin to Greek society, and not Spain or Portugal. But, it is still a viable option for some American liberals.
While Cyprus is an EU member state, it is not a member of the Schengen Zone – yet! Once Cyprus fully integrates into the Schengen Zone, the value of Cypriot residency will increase.
Caribbean Passport Programs
Though not a realistic relocation Plan B, if all you seek is an alternative legal identity, you can acquire Caribbean citizenship and a Plan B second passport in less than a year.
While socially conservative, the Caribbean Five nations are all members of the Commonwealth of Nations, providing their citizens a measured degree of passport respect.
The origin story for passport programs, and arguably the world’s most popular Plan B citizenship programs, the Caribbean Five nations are:
- St. Kitts & Nevis – $250,000 for a family of four
- Dominica – $250,000 for a family of four
- St. Lucia – $240,000 for a family of four

To some, this may seem like an extreme Plan B, but there is no such thing as an extreme Plan B.

And Europe holds the most hope and opportunity for liberal Americans who want to safeguard individual freedoms for themselves and their posterity.
Recent years have seen a bombardment of media attention attempting to shade Europe as being on a significant right-wing trajectory toward radical political conservatism.
The reality is far more optimistic and progressive.
The EU is not anti-immigration, but some member countries are dealing with an unprecedented influx of illegal migration that has been effectively used as a transportation system for Russian spies and terrorists.
Some countries – most obviously, Hungary, where the country’s prime minister, Victor Orban, is obsessed with President Trump – have taken very anti-immigrant stances.
But, the EU, Schengen Zone, and EEA are composed of 30 countries, not only the handful that garner all the media headlines.
So, not to worry; the Iberian Peninsula stands on very liberal ground, as does the majority of EU society.
Likewise, Canada and the Caribbean are still viable Plan B strategies that can be leveraged effectively, with the Caribbean providing a relatively quick approval timeframe for the entire family.

With newly elected President Trump all over the news, America’s Democrats may be feeling like they waited too long – but not worry, it is not too late.
American families need a real-world Plan B, and that reality has never been more true than it is right now for America’s progressive families.
Whether you are worried about a second Trump Presidency ushering in:
- New unregulated gun rights
- More access restrictions to abortion
- Significant increase in mass incarceration of immigrants
- Legislative attacks on the LGBTQ+ community
- Greater police protections from litigation
- Degression of environmental protections
And the list can go on. But, with President Trump supported by a Republican-led Senate, who knows what the next two years will yield.
